Why not go the full 9 yards and flip it up 180 degrees so it's sticking straight up?

A well-insulated house can get very warm, even if it's cooler outside. A room with OCed computer components will also be hotter than most.

With that setup VRMs are probably going to be fine heat-wise. Just don't go nuts on the voltage.
