Usually the only time someone posts an RMA thread it's to complain. So let me switch it up by sharing my first RMA experience with MSI, which as it turns out, went as smoothly as possible!

Back story:
A few weeks back one of my 460s started making some loud, electric-crackling noises under load. The card performed fine and it's temps stayed cool, but the noise had me concerned.

So I called MSI (and tbh, after reading some of the horror stories on here I almost didn't bother since the card still functioned fine). The CSR I spoke to was actually very courteous and helpful, and issued an RMA number immediately.

All in all, it took about 9 business days from when it arrived at their RMA dept to get a brand new replacement card in my hands (and most of that time it was in transit with UPS since I live on the east coast).

Pretty uneventful (which is a good thing imo), but worth telling considering all the horror stories I've seen about MSI "losing" hardware, or taking a month just to process your RMA, only to send back a refurbished or DoA unit.

The new card runs perfectly and all is right with the world. So... Reps to MSI, from a very satisfied customer!

Thanks for posting that, I'm glad your RMA went well. I know not all RMA experiences are as good as yours, but it's nice to be reminded that not all of them are horror stories

Haha I know, right!? Going by some of the threads on here, you'd think every big-name company hires the rudest CSRs imaginable and is out to screw you at every turn.

I certainly won't feel so gun-shy about dealing with the RMA dept in the future.

I've currently got a gtx570 on RMA to MSI. I'll be sure to post how everything goes here once it's all settled

Good to know. I try to take the horror stories with a grain of salt, as most of the time the outcome is dependant on how the person handles the situation.

Different people handle things differently, therefore mixed stories.

Anyhow, good to know I'm in safe hands if my 5970 ever goes pop.

Meh with any of the RMA or otherwise "horror stories" you have to also take account that most people will speak up only if they have a complaint, if everything is going smoothly no reason to speak up. So in general there should be a lot more happy endings with RMA's and such that you just never hear of, and then the bad ones you do hear about get sensationalized..

Good to hear about a nice experience though.

I have RMAed 3 items to MSI.One being a 790fa-gd70 to get a new 890fxa-gd70 in return.The only problems I have had with them was during the 790fa-gd70 rma I sent in a X50 Pro in too.They ended sending me 2 890fxa's instead of the X58.Got it sorted out with a cross shipment.Great guys in their rma dept.

Haha yeah, they shipped my new card in a laptop box too. Luckily I already saw that thread so I didn't get my hopes up
