Canada and Cuba are the prime exemple of how good a social health care is to a country. yeah they're is some major flaw ( the mom's that brings her child to hospital because he trow up a little ) ...

This would be a major leap in world developing since electricity ... but the project will probably not work because of people like Subby who are pessimistic paranoids against everything but corporation and uncontrolled market/ ( ooooh the irony ) .

I would hand my money to the people if it can make for a better world and meanwhile giving me the chance of having what I want.

U.S people don't know the weight a social health care takes off your shoulders. Knowing you won't go bankrupt for an accident is a priceless thing.

A free internet would be the same thing. it would make it a well of knowledge and opinions but western world should get a veto on it because undeveloped country could be easily misguided by it if some groups take over the internet in those places. They don't have opinions to begin with and the only opinions they have are from religions and archaic people.

And troll could finally be the most powerful thing on earth. and that would be unfortunate ....
Yes it takes the financial strain off of you but now me and many others are foorced to pay your bills due to taxation. That does not seem right. If I only make $X a year and I have to pay 1/3 of my income to taxes now how much more will I be paying when I have to pay for every deadbeat that decides to live off the system instead of actually contributing to society.
At least I can shop for my insurance compare prices and coverage as loosed a one size fits all all pay for all. Because people abuse insurance. I read a study put out by one of the US's prestigious college's that found after a 20 year study in wich they gave half the participants full and free health insurance. Meanwhile the other had none. And the choose very low income people for this study. After it was all done those with insurance were no more healthly, but they had racked up $ 100's of millions in medical bills.

I can't refund the study there for is rodent exist... :-/

I respect your opinion but I believe in a free market system (as flawed as that system is too).

Meh, cool idea but I don't think all the starving, war-stricken, diseased poor populations of the world care much about free Internet.

However, as we have seen, the Internet can be a powerful tool to inform and coordinate people - to make changes that perhaps can move people towards a better future.

It's like elections. Around here, people don't bother to vote, and those that do generally do it begrudgingly and without much actual thought. But such things are highly valued in places where people are downtrodden because it is their once chance to make a difference.

I think the Internet can bring so much to the people of the world: information, education, enlightenment, culture, and so on. We should be encouraging it as a way of bringing equality and liberty to people, not only with war-stricken people, but right here, with the vast underclass of people that have given up hope and have little or no chance of improving their lot - especially in a corporate world where if you don't have Internet, you can't even apply for a low end, entry level job.

If you happen to live in the United States, you end up paying the most for the worst service. Same with cell phones. Why is it, third world countries can offer 10Mb service for less than $10/mo, when, in one of the most developed countries in the world, the same service can cost almost $100/mo? Well, American greed to begin with. You can travel to some of the poorest countries, and get some of the best cell service... No dropped calls, no out-of-service-area's. Not so in the United States. God forbid you have to travel to somewhere not on the east or west coast. You're just sol in that case.
I have to pay $60/ month for a 6Mb connection. Why do I have to? Because there is no competition here. There is only one cable company, period. If you want high speed cable, you go through them, and they know it. Thus, wayyyy overpriced. All goes back to American greed.

Umm..what? For $60, I get 20 meg up/down, its not America, its just where you live. Considering many places have caps for bandwidth and such, America is pretty good.

Yeah, YOU get 20megs. There is probably competition between the providers as well, to attract customers. What I'm saying is that if you don't live in a major metro area, it's worse in America than in a third world country.

Exactly what I was thinking. Of all the things to try to make universal, why the internet? Why not clean water or something?

Oh well, at least this guy is trying to do something, even if it's not what I consider most important.
