[GamerBuzz] Digital Distribution is NOT the Future.. - Page 3

The summary of the thread only seems to mention the fact that they are making money off of the collector editions... well most games are shifting to a system where a collectors edition might supply an in-game item. There are still are collectors editions on Steam and people still do buy them for other reasons then just toys (early beta access, 3 day advance playtime, etc).

Now consoles might be a different story, but as far as PC goes this argument seems poor.
STEAM is dominating in PC sales. Netflix put Hollywood Video out of business, and Blockbuster just filed for bankruptcy. And, digital distribution is not the future? Its just a matter of time before consoles gets taken over by digital distribution.

I just stopped reading the idiocy after this line:

As for the indie publishers, it doesn’t matter what they do in the long run (as pessimistic as that sounds), it’s all about Capcom, Nintendo, Song etc.

"disks scratch, downloads cap!!"

i hated waiting in lines at the store just to get a game on release day . it was not cool, especially with all the smelly geeks standing in line (me haha).

Steam FTW!!!!!!

PS: i hate to admit it but i hated steam at first... but at the time i had crappy net, and now my net is faster i love it. i buy all of my games there.
Ya it would make gamestop mad if more of them setup their own digital download stuff and let you buy it as a combo get a hardcopy and able to download it if you want. No need to share any profits with game stop or any other retail stores.

Thats a funny article... written by a child... anywho a game such as Recettear comes to mind, indie title localized by one guy (originally a Japanese game), sold 350,000 units at 20.00 bucks US a pop... umm... looks like 7 million in the pocket... the guy who wrote the article must be Bill F'n Gates to ignore that kind of lewt jingle.

Is this a serious gaming journalism website because this is one of the most unprofessional and ill researched article I've read in some time. It just seems like someone angry at a growing trend. He pretty much denies the success of digital distribution on the PC and shrugs off the other industries move to it by just lumping those consumers as suddenly so much different to the gaming audience.
^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^^^

If it is a serious website, his editors suck the donkey. While reading this, I am picturing a 9th grader sitting in study hall, pissed because his DD edition of Black Ops (that he purchased from Steam) didn't download before bedtime the night before.

The day they stop producing disks or any other physical thing (IE Flash Drive loaded with games or something), is the day i will never buy a new PC game, and will just play older games for the rest of my life.

But this guy is kindof an Idiot, but still.

Disregarding the terrible article I always thought you would see games coming on SD type media. I mean they are much easier to write to than a DVD and can hold more data, they are getting dirt cheap now so more demand should decrease the price even further to the point where they could be considered disposable.
