I second the combo ATX/EPS 8pin deal. But useful modular design?? I love how my True New Power PSU is semi modular. Only has what I need, except for the CPU 4pin, but already said that needs to be fixed.

At Phaedrus, this is great news to me. Ive seen chris on here before, so hopefully when we talk and ask for things, he(Antec) may listen.

If OCZ doesnt hurry up with my RMA, I may buy another Antec PSU.

If I was to offer an idea for a PSU manufacturer, it would be to create different versions of a PSU specifically for a top mount or bottom mount of a case. It's annoying when the 24-pin and 8-pin motherboard power cables are too short with a bottom-mounted PSU in a full tower case. But, if those cables were lengthened then they would be too long for a PSU mounted in the top of a case.

This idea would be super easy to implement with a fully module design because then the manufacturer could just package the PSU with whatever set of cables works best for the particular setup that it is marketed for.

The drawback with that is that someone buys the top mount package then switches cases to a bottom mount and has to buy new cables. Much better to just make them all for bottom mount as with a very few exceptions you won't be seeing new top mounted psu cases much longer except for the cheap ones. The better case companies are phasing them out rather quickly. Having both just adds more complexity and more hassle.

Good points. Manufacturers could also consider tossing in a couple of extension cables into the box and taking out some of the extra modular cables that 99% of users will never use.

That's all fine and dandy but you should make sure you're not automatically disregarding other peoples advice as they could be just as accurate as Phaedrus' opinion. There a few people other than Phaedrus with huge amounts of PSU knowledge, like shinji2k, Tator Tot etc.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to these changes!

Neither of those ideas are good either. Shipping with missing cables would create havoc for the buyers. What if you are the person who needs one of the missing cables and have to wait 2 or 3 weeks to get them shipped from the manufacturer? Since the different manufacturer's don't agree on the psu side connection for their cables now, what makes you think they would do so in the future? Most sources wouldn't carry the other cables since there would be too many different ones. That would place an undue burden on the purchaser to acquire all of the cables that they should have gotten in the first place. Antec is getting enough bad press about not shipping the AC power cord with some of their PSU's, something that is universal and can be purchased from just about any computer, office, or big box store. Imagine the backlash if they ship with missing essential cables that can't be readily purchased.

Extensions might be nice, but then since most users wouldn't need them it just drives up the price. Extensions can be purchased from a variety of sources both locally and online. All including them would do is drive up the already high cost of PSU's unnecessarily for the majority of users. There is already enough problem with unknowledgeable users buying junk PSU's due to their lower cost. Since you can bet that those cheap psus would never include them anyway that would only compound that problem, You know darn well that a company that is too cheap to build a decent PSU and put a 600watt label on a 300 watt psu isn't going to include one.

Just my 2 cents. Other peoples mileage may vary.
