New here, wanna oc my Radeon HD5670 512mb

Thread Starter
So these are my specs:
Radeon HD5670 512mb
Intel Core2Duo e7500 2.93Ghz
Win7 Ultimate 64-bit
500w ATX
2G Ram 800Mhz

i was wondering if i could overclock through the catalyst control center.
but how will i know that im not exceeding my watt limit?
and is Auto-Tune safe?

thx

P.S. oh and what gpu temp can my card go up to that wont put it at any risk?

To be honest, I doubt that your machine will push that PSU. I would probably download MSI afterburner and give that a shot. You can pretty much push it as far as the card will allow without causing issues on your PSU.

My core clock is 775mhz
and my memory clock is 950mhz,
how much should i change them?
how can i check my gpu temp while gaming?
how much temp is considered "risky" for the card?
what do u mean you doubt my machine will push that psu?

please answer all questions, thx

You should OC your GPU until it is no longer stable, then back down until it runs stable.
Download and use GPUz to check temp.
Over 100c is risky for any card.
you have a 500W PSU, For what hardware you have, you bearly will use that much.

download msi afterburner, and furmark or occt
raise the first bar, clock speed up by 10 and then do a stability test on furmark or occt for about 15-30 mins, if nothing bad happens (freezing, wierd dots on the screen) go back and raise some more until it either freezes or artifacts (the wierd dots) then drop it down like 20-30 and do the same for the next slider bar until you have done them all, then do like a 5 hour stability test with furmark...

do this, BUT ALL THE WHILE WATCHING THE TEMPS!

but when the pc freezes or artifacts, doesnt that harm the gpu? cant it burn my gpu or something?
and what temp should the card not go over?
freezing or artifacting wont do anything to the card, as long as you dont obviously leave it there and stuff, the reason you move up only in 10's is so you find the exact spot where its unstable, instead of going waaay over and imploding it

as for temps, no idea what they are usually for a 5670, no idea what case you have, what cooling you have...

obviously if your close to 100 thats...BAD

can you explain to me why the pc freezes if you overclock the gpu to much?
and should i change the Fan Speed(%)? does it affect the pc?

idk, i would just say becuase it cant handle it or something...
changing the fan speed is a good idea, try setting it as high as you can without it bothering to keep the temps down which should help overclock it further...

if you run them @ 100% 24/7 they will last less but who knows, maybe they go from 10 years to 8 years... in which case you can just RMA it or get an aftermarket cooler...
