Oblivion Mods

Thread Starter
I was recently looking for a new RPG and figured I would just eek it out and start over on oblivion and try out TES sooner or later. There are some mods that people have done that I really like weapon and armor related. I went to go install those mods but I DO NOT have a mesh folder anywhere. That is the only folder I am missing when I open up oblivion. So I looked a little closer and realized all the meshes were right in the data folder and not organized. If I am going to be using a mod that requires files to be placed in the mesh folder do I just put them along side all the other oblivion mesh files?

Sorry if that is a stupid question I am new to all of this including PC gaming. I have been sitting here for a week now staring in my bios to afraid to try to OC my 950 as well lol....

Vanilla Oblivion (no mods) doesn't have a meshes folder because the game's own textures are compressed, while most mods have their files organized by folder. Make sure you keep the mod's file structure intact, or your game will be filled with gigantic yellow exlamation marks instead of meshes, haha!

Look into using Wrye Bash to manage your mods, it makes things way easier in the long term.

Awesome thanks for the heads up. I just had to uninstall everything because this was my first time trying to mod any pc game and I was putting **** in random spots and just made a sloppy mess lol. Where can I get a copy of oblivion that has a meshes folder or are you saying its ok just to drag the mod folder say

texture goes to texture
and meshes can just stay in theyre own folder next to all the oblivion meshes?

Your oblivion directory should look like this: oblivion\\data\\meshes

so if you don't have a meshes folder yet, create one to hold all your mod files.
