Just got my new pc! Is this build good for overclocking? - Page 3

I believe either of them should work just fine.
If you think you may upgrade in the future then get the 8gb set if you have the extra money now.. Ram prices are rather cheap right now..
Also use this code "DM15A02US" on newegg for 15% off (if used before tomorrow....)

And you won't need to upgrade for a very long time if you buy the 8gb.. But unless you do some hardcore gaming or anything else intensive you shouldnt need any ram bigger than 4gb either..

but since the 8GB ram im getting now is 1333... will my build be bottlenecked by the ram when it comes to oc? (im not gonna oc like crazy.... probably up to somewhere around 3.5Ghz, i would be really happy)

thx for ur reply.

1333 would be perfectly fine unless numbers are really important to you
I think 2x4 1333 would be better than 2x2 1600.. But for most uses 2x4 in itself is overkill unless you are doing lots of hardcore video editing and such.

am i gonna have a problem since my MB is just a cheap P55-USB3 which is not on the qualified motherboards list.

or I should just get this...? but this one doesnt have my MB on the Qualified Motherboards List either lol...

It doesnt matter if its not on the "Qualified" motherboards list. Theyll both still work.

Seriously dude, stop stressing. You OC will not be affected, because you can simply OC your Ram as well.

If your so worried about your motherboard, get another one man.

Either get 2x4GB or 2x2GB. But my advice would be the latter, you can upgrade later. Shhhheeeiiit.

It won't affect your overclocking but why did you decide to go for a Caviar Green as your main drive? o.o

Don't you all ready have the RAM? If you don't then don't get 1333, get the 1600 it'll help with your OC later. If you all ready have the 1333, no biggie, like other's have said you can OC your RAM too. I would always recommend 2x4gb, over 4x2gb, if you want to OC. Using the 4 dimms will put extra stress on the memory controller, and since that is in your CPU, it can limit your OC. Not to worry though, you should be able to hit 4.0 ghz with a descent $30-50 aftermarket cooler no problem. My i5 runs at 4.0ghz with 4x2gb, but I had to really bump up the voltage to the IMC to get it stable. I currently backed down to 4gb, because of the previously mentioned issue.
