concaved i7 2600k :( help me!

Hi all,

I recently bought new setup. Poped up the heatsink of my Corsair H50.. and found I got concaved CPU. I put some more AS5 in the middle of CPU to promote contact the temp droped 10C+ from 82C load. After reseat, ran Prime 95 for 30 min (blend test) and found my load temperature was still 69C! Idel was 33C~ During Gaming its up to 71C... I guess it because of my GTX 570 SLI configuration. My Ambient temp at case air intake is 23C. After research... everyone is only getting temp around the 50s to 60s...

My question is: Do you think running that temp for extended period of time (5+ hours a day) will shorten my CPU life? or Dead CPU after 3 year warranty? Should I lap it (kind want to keep the warranty). Anything I could do other than lapping cpu IHS or HSF? I reseated heatsink three times and screwed in tight the H50 already.... Thin layer of AS5 will cause concaved part not touch H50.. Thick layer of AS5 makes contact.. but gives me 69C load I am in world of hurt! HELP ME!!!!

Here is my setup
Ambient temp at case intake is 23C
i7 2600K with turbo boost on to 3.8Ghz on all cores.
Corsair H50 push pull configuration (suck air out of the case) with two 38.4CFM VIZO slient 120mm fan.
Gigabyte P67A UD4
Transend aXe DDR3 2000 4GB x 2 @ 1866mhz
2 way SLI MSI GTX570
Patriot Inferno 120G SSD
WD Green 2TB
All above in a no cable mess Corsair 600T with 200mm intake and exhaust fan.

You could leave your CPU as is and maybe lap your heatsink until it's convex and fits the shape of the CPU better. I'm not sure how practical of an idea that is though.

return it?

so you took a straight edge, such as a razor blade, and set it on the cpu and saw that it's concave? a picture would be great.

If it really is curved put something straight like a razor blade against the heat spreader and take a picture. Email Intel and demand a replacement.

Those temps are not going to hurt it though.

You have two choices, return it with proof of a manufacturing defect, or you can lap it. Pix would be nice!

I thought Intel will not accept concaved CPU as a defect as along as no over heating. Since the Orginal HSF's smaller round copper core is slightly rasied (against my H50 is completely flat).... Orginal HSF is actually getting the same temp as my H50 (sh**ty deal).

BTW, has anyone actually successfuly refund a concaved CPU and got a new one?

Lap it. Easy. Better Temps. Don't have to deal with shipping (Who wants to let their sexy new rig sit for a week or so unused?).
