3D kit for 5870

Thread Starter
Hey guys I'm a bit confused, here's the problem:

The Asus VG236H comes with Nvidia's 3D kit and costs 400€ on my country, while Asus VG236HE doesn't have the 3D kit and costs 330€. The specs are exactly the same.

My question is if I buy the VG236HE where can I find a 3D kit like Nvidia's for my card? I doubt nvidia's kit will on work on ati xD

Thanks

I always thought the Nvidia kit was the glasses the HDMI cable for 3D and maybe a driver. But anyway it goes try iz3d.com as they make a free 3rd party driver for AMD 3D.

I'm still kind of confused. The iz3d provide the drivers but the VG236HE doesn't come with bundled shutter glasses.

Can I buy the shutter glasses later? Or will the iz3d driver let me use the nvidia shutter glasses on my ATI?

Thanks

Biruz, the nvidia shutter glasses require the nvidia emitter (for blinking each eye 60 hz each lens) that's how active shutter works. All of the above require nvidia drivers.
there is some sort of 3D for ATI, I've heard of it.

So the iz3d driver will only work if the 3D screen comes with shutter glasses bundled not like the nvidia's 3D kit.

Maybe I'll just switch to the green side xD

thanks

The IZ3D drivers will work to make your Monitor display a 3D image, you just need to find 3D glasses for your Monitor. Now saying that, considering if the Nvidia kit just comes with glasses and regular 3D equipment I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work, but provided you have any 3D glasses those drivers should work blissfully.

As said above, its not compatile.

Nvidia glasses and emitter only works on.... nvidia cards. Surprise!
You can't use them with AMD.

iz3D is something completely different.
It has both options for special monitors with overlapped LCDs which show 3D with a cheap glasses you get from the theater.
Or it has a software base which works on some monitors, and again, same cheap glasses.

There is also HD3D from AMD which came with the lastest cards.

There are a few more software based solutions out there, most are very expensive and don't work in many games.

@ OP I'm sorry then OP I always under the impression that the Nvidia kit was simply the glasses but I should of taken into consideration its a company trying to make money as well.

I've always been under the impression that IZ3D worked like a charm with any kind of 3D glasses(I've never heard of anyone commenting on its bad or terrible performance) especially since they've been sponsored or have been supporting AMD 3D with there drivers for some time I have no clue how they far up to Nvidia home made 3D solution, but the more it seems like Nvidia has a better hassle-less 3D solution with it just being implemented within there drivers, as AMD has support for 3D I've only heard of IZ3D having drivers for it, as unless I missed it they have yet to actually say anyone but IZ3D.

OP if you already have a 120Hz monitor and can find some glasses I say try it out and see if you like it, if not switching teams doesnt sound like a bad idea.

I'll have to check if the 3D is worth the trouble. If it is maybe I'll switch sides. I haven't bought an nvidia card in long long time...

Thanks guys
