Woohuu! Just reached 4.3. And now my ram is dead. Should i upgrade or go used? - Page 2

i can get 4.3 at same volts as you can get 4.4 but cant check for stability because i dont have a good enough cooler. can do vantage runs and use it for a good few hour gaming.

got some new memory coming soon so i can clock higher. its kingston like yours and ive got a asus p5q pro

i use same volts as you in bios for 4.4 but llc enabled

Very nice!

The closer you get to 4.5, the harder it will be to remain stable. Over 4.3 starts to need aggressive voltages etc. and playing with GTLs, which takes alot of time.

my e5200 is wierd for voltages, i can run bench stable at 4.4GHz 1.41v, any higher voltage i get blue screen allot faster, even upto 1.5v it just freezes in windows but 1.41v and 1.4v is completely fine for benching...

Read over this thread a bit:

http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...0-e0-ep45.html

I'm seeing I was only using 1.25 VTT, which means it probably didn't help to raise it. If I get a chance, I might play around a little more. Last I remember, I was playing with GTLs, which was working but requires alot of time. I don't remember where I had PLL.

I had the opposite situation, I could not pass stress tests but I could run games and 3dmarks etc.

Have you tried with Intel BurnTest to check out the max temps ?

After 5min Intel-BurnTest V2.50 i had my max temp which is around 70c pr. Core.
I did´t even come close to that in Orthos, after 2h it was like 55c pr. Core.

I highly recommend Intel BurnTest. It fries your cpu if you don´t keep an eye on the temp thou But you'll know what vollies your cooling can handle in minutes

UPDATE:

Well my ram has decided to "throw in the towel"

They can´t pass a simple ram test @ stock anymore

Besides that my mobo have peaked, and is sliding down the hill also.

Should i upgrade to Sandy/1366 or go for a P5E-WS PRO with x6800 and 4gb Dominator ddr2 that is used. Priced at 276$ ?

I really can´t decide... Go 1156/1366 or go for some used 775... Please help

Can you RMA the RAM?
Max safe voltage for these is 1.45v so go for it

Although I had a 45nm Intel chip at 1.6v for months with NO problems
