The problem there is that PC is more then just gaming. Game developers would lose a bit of market if PC gaming dyes but they would go out of business if Console gaming dyes. In that case PC is used as a scapegoat. They could easily say 360 is killing their sales but then were are they going to get sales from if they dont make games from 360, PC gaming community is not as big.

If it was intentional, I don't see the point in leaking the ENTIRE game. An intentional leak might be a few levels, at most. I don't see the point in putting out the entire game for the masses to play.

And that is where it gets confusing really (but then it wouldn't be a 'leak', it'd definitely look intentional too). TBH I don't know what to think, but it simply can't have started from hackers/piraters, it has to be an inside job of sorts.

How did Crysis 2 get leaked? Did someone had access to their computer and stole the game? Or was it an inside job or publicity stunt to see how many people would go crazy wanting to play the game? Gives them an idea how much money they can rake in. Although Crytek claimed they were disappointed, could it be they were lying and just wanted to see what happened? OR.. did someone hack their system and stole every Crysis file? lol.

I still think it was an inside job and someone broke the rules or someone had access to a beta testing program? I have no clue. Still doesn't explain how it got leaked in the first place got me thinking it could been Crytek all along just to see how the reaction go in PC community, thus getting feedback and finalizing the touch ups for the final release? Thoughts?
Well it is a early build, and usually we learn where these leaks come from. (gamestop, robbery, game got shipped to somoeone early etc etc) Usually we learn where it came from in comments of the torrent sites or a news article will pop up. But this, this one i couldn't find anything. Personally i think it came straight from a Crysis dev. For reasons beyond me. But this is not a copy that would float around EA or Crytek so employees could play it or they could show it off to their investors etc etc along those lines (Yes internal builds get passed around offices all the time).

That's what I think happened here, dev leaked it out. Just my 2cent.

And iceblade, Crysis 2 still hasn't gone gold yet. Of course companys work on DLC right after their game is released or before after its gone gold and copy's are getting made. But this is a early build that shows planned DLC all along from the start. Founded in a early leak build, before its launched, and its news of DLC so quickly... I wouldn't care if DLC was announced month after game is out, shoot thats just EA being EA. But this is in a leak, and really early. So its just another "sigh..." to add to the Cryfail list at this point.

Feel my drift?

most games tend to ship with DLC afterwards - i don't understand why you're upset. there's no evidence there that the DLC is complete - only that it may exist and has names.

Well if it's already made but instead of adding it to the game they're going to release it later for a charge then that is a bit lame, but dev's can do what they want. Looking at that link though it's kinda hard to say if it's real since it just a pick of a few folders. Heck, I could make a HL episode 3 folder in my steam apps and could spout out that there leaked info of episode 3 and it's coming out in the next couple of months...

watching the intro vid (it was in the source link of a news article on here somewhere) i think it was an inside job. i mean, it says Crytek, internal distribution only on it. means someone from the inside, or someone let their friend in or something.

jury's still out in my mind of whether or not it was planned, but it could easily have been, considering they've been mum on the PC aspect of it for most of the time.

i think i do, but then we don't know just how old this build is (at least i don't ). even so i think it makes sense if you look at it from the EA angle a bit more. we know EA like having DLC, and Crytek i think said something along the lines of having a bigger budget to work with and having this be a higher profile title, so it would follow that DLC would come. from what i understand DLC is planned in around alpha and beta of a game (could well be wrong here) so given the early nature of this i guess that'd be what happened (is the build too new to be alpha? i don't know).

in any event most games come with DLC that's preplanned. Dragon Age Origins is a good example of this (Awakening was out only a couple of months after the original). i guess i just see it as having been inevitable. not that i like it, but it seems to be par for the course these days

This build is from January 11th. It's pretty much the last build or one of the very very few builds before it goes gold.

Games go gold 2 or 3 months before launch. Right about now is that time, Crysis 2 will probably go gold next week. It could probably go gold right now but Crytek is forced to wait. If they were to go gold now - people would believe that the leaked build is the build that is final because how many different changes could that make in a month? Bug fixes - that's it.

I really wish it weren't set in an urban environment. But i'll have to see how it plays out.

Rumors are that the people who leaked it were hired by EA or Crytek to test for bugs, but they were fired for doing a bad job and one of their employees had the copy on his PC and leaked it.

How come I didnt write that, when the whole time that's what I was trying to say. But it also goes back... well... its EA, of course they be doing something like this.

I guess like ice said, this is just the new standard in the game industry for DLC. Sadly, I think its highway robbery, and I think if they keep throwing these DLC's on disc when shipped, I can smell a lawsuit brewing somewhere. Maybe not, maybe so, not good with legal stuff but it almost sounds illegal. Didn't MW2 or some other recent game have all its planned DLC ship with the game? But was just a unlock code to play the DLC? (not talking about BC2 and Vietnam).

In that case I call it stealing from your customers. Now im gonna be pondering all night what game that was...

BTW i spent like 20mins on mycrysis and Crysis 2 still has some love in my heart, the whole sc-fi tech feel all across their site just brings a smile to my face.
