Tuniq TX-4 application on i5 760 w/212+

Hey guys, about to build my first quad core system and I'm trying out the tuniq tx-4.

What would be the best way to apply it to the i5-760 with a hyper 212+ heatsink?

BTW im only willing to lap the heatsink if its gonna give me significant benefit.

I've always used a pea-sized dot on the center of the cpu and applied pressure with the heatsink and it's worked fine for me every time.

Lapping won't give you any significant performance because of the direct touch pipes. You could use a bit more on the cooler because of the spaces between the pipes and the TIM which will remain there.

Thanks!

I was a little concerned because the directions (i know, i shouldnt read them lol) said to spread it evenly across the cpu and that just seems like a recipe for disaster.

I bought some Tuniq TX-4 and used it on my CPU and GPU's when mounting the waterblocks. I spread a very thin layer with the spreader like the instructions then added a small amount about the size of a grain of rice in the center. I'm happy with the results particularly on the GPU's. Still have a lot left, they give you a good sized syringe for $14 or whatever it was.
