[Advice] AMD > Intel

Thread Starter
Hi boys and girls. I need an advice from you.

I got tired of my current CPU. I have a 775 motherboard and a Intel processor. But that CPU doesnt support 64bit version of Windows, so i decided to trade my AMD CPU to Intel one with 64 bit support.

My offer
AMD Phenom II X4 955 (Deneb 45nm Technology)
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H Rev 1.0

+ i can also add 2x1GB DDR2-800 Kingston RAM to my offer. RAM has coolers too

I want
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

Is it real or it is hopeless?
Or can you give me better ideas?

P.S i dont want AMD, because good AMD CPUs make 125W of power and i dont need CPU to eat so much electricity

sounds like a good idea, I just can't see anyone trading AMd rig for core 2 quad. you might have to sell the MOBO+CPU+RAM and find another seller selling the C2Q

125W is just the TDP...most of the time it won't use that much. What Intel CPU did you have that didn't support 64-bit?

But if you can find someone willing to give up their Q9550, go for it.

The AMD cpus you're looking at have an on die memory controller and the C2Q doesn't. If you're going to compare power consumption, you pretty much have to compare cpu and motherboard since the memory controller on the C2Q is on the motherboard and will consume more electricity.

Your mobo/ram/cpu just for Q9550? I would do this if you lived in the UK.

QFT

Use all the facts when comparing them.

Use CPU-ID and find out which one it is. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Hard to say that any C2Q doesn't support 64-bit but could be wrong.
