[ArsTechnica] World's total CPU power = one human brain - Page 5

I'm waiting for the day that computers become so powerful human brain emulation becomes a reality.

Freaking THIS. It'll take more than a billion of binary computations to come anywhere close to what your brain does when you try to decide what's for breakfast. Human brains are what made computers as powerful as they are now, and will always be.

I just REALLY get tired of the narrow-minded idiots who believe "LOL, Termunaddah, Skynet will kill us all with ARNIIEEEE". I know someone who's so convinced about this, he thinks I'm just bringing our doom just by studying computers...

The human brain has all the processing power in the world.
Unfortunately 99% of the time our software sucks.

Yes.

EDIT: Okay not in seconds, But that's probably because he cant talk that fast. I remember my mum showing me a program about this man, or someone else similar, that could outdo a calculator.

exactly.

It's horrible to see wasted potential. There are so many people who could be smart, but purposely choose not to or aren't give the chance. The former is the worst to experience first hand. That applies to like 3/4 of my school and I'm sure it's the same story everywhere else. And they say the next generation of kids are supposed to be good? lol

no that is wrong.

Scientists estimated your brain has 300Peraflops of computing power or something ridiculous like that.

No. the most you of your brain you can uses is about 5-10%.
you can't uses your subconscious.

Your subconscious is doing over a billion operations per second. while i computer does around 50. if your trying to think of an idea. your brain will start thinking of millions and millions of things. until about 10 of them things are the same and then you get that idea.

Also there is over 100 trillion Cells in your body. your brain is linked to nearly all of these and can adjust them. make them grow. and much more.

You still think a computer is more powerful that a human brain?

again, a brain can't compute mathematics anywhere near as fast as a computer.
