They’re a modern-day must. Anyone who’s ever forgotten their credit card at home or worse, lost it, knows exactly how crucial that piece of plastic truly is. With rampant fraud and ID theft though, most cardholders are equally aware of the risks. But what if the account number on your card disappeared when not in use? ZDNet correspondent Sumi Das explores payment innovations from Dynamics, Square and Bling Nation.
Source - Watch The Video!

That's pretty Dynamic + New Gadgets, woot!

Bling Pay Pal from your phone OMG!

NO Credit card needed, swipe phone & go!

Yea but what if your cellphone was stolen then what?

From what I've heard, Japan has (has had for many years now) vending machines where you just pay by using your phone. You text the number on the vending machine and it'll be on your phone bill. I'm in FULL support of pushing technology like this for public use. I once went to a convention with a model Walmart-like store where you walk in, grab what you need, and walk right out; the store charges your credit card and alerts security at the door if you don't have a valid one on you. Sucks for the workforce as cashiers would be losing their jobs, but it's an amazing advancement. No more dealing with lines. The population is horrible as it is, and it's only climbing. We really need to work on advancements to relieve the pressure of fuel, food availability, electricity costs, and traffic flow!

The SIM card is traceable to within 100 feet, even if the phone is off...

Do you really want to know how long it will take the FBI to get you?

Minutes..

Walmart use to have this at most of their stores....

Except it was a pay cash and go...

The problem is, too many people would bag and go... (Often not swiping all their items, conveniently!)

It requires a team of Security to monitor the swipes...

Therefore the cashiers would be replaced by Armed Security, NOT a cheaper solution....

==========================

The only viable solution to credit card theft is to require ID at the time of purchase, at least, that I know of...

The computer in a card idea is for tracking purposes, surely...

They want to catch the criminals fast...

=========================

Costco has a nice solution, they take your receipt and quickly count all the items in your cart, if the receipt doesn't match the item count, you got a problem...

True, I wasn't commenting about the employee costs per say but those poor cashiers will be jobless. Not every cashier is willing to stand guard with a gun, and I wouldn't want just any person doing that either.
