evidence?
EK = (1/2)mv2 Please note that mass is barely an issue while the already awesome velocity is squared. Do the math.
Clue #1: Close orbit asteroids commonly travel at 30km/sec
Clue#2: 30km/sec = 67,108 mph (squared, the factor is over 2,000,000 x 1/2 mass)*
Again, sand in the face of a charging rhino.

FYI I the term "theory" in Science does not mean something randomly pulled from some unseemly orifice. The qualification requirements for a Theory are extremely rigorous.

*Note: units are usually kept in km/sec but since you don't understand "theory" it seemed unlikely you understand the metric system so I converted to mph, so you could "feel it".

^^^^ lol owned . but still ... it would just make a dent on the earth and most of the thing would be practically untouched .

just have to hope it falls on washington killing all of U.S government and create space for a real democracy .

or on bobi and treyarch to wipe activision from the face of the earth and return gaming to where it should be .

if its that small then surely we will have enough fire power to throw it off on its approach. especially since we have so long to develop further

It takes forever for neo's (near earth objects) to hit earth. This won't mark the end of the world though. It's not like we're being nuked and will get killed by radiation.

Dont asteroids bigger than that get broken up in the earths atmosphere every day?

250m is nothing, I bet it would take NASA a month to rig a rocket to intercept and obliterate something that size easily.

Nope. One 5 to 10 meter asteroid enters the Earth's atmosphere a year . Objects of 50 meters, every thousand years (Tunguska). A 250m asteroid is capable of wiping out the entire of London if it were to hit right in the middle. I think we would have noticed it if those enter our atmosphere every day.
