Open box motherboard?

Thread Starter
I acquired a Phenom II X4 965, 2x2GB Ripjaws, and a GTX260 and from one of my friends for $200 and now I need a motherboard for it but don't have much more to spend.

My budget is set at more or less $70 and thought an open box motherboard from newegg would be an good bet. The only problem is there are a lot of choices and would appreciate it if some of you could toss me a couple of suggestions.

I don't need all the bells and whistles but would like to be able to do a modest OC of say 3.8GHz and since the card is long don't want the sata connectors to be blocked.

Link to open box AM3 motherboards. Thanks for any help.

ASUS makes some pretty solid AM3 mobos.

I'd go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131402R

I second this choice... just have to be careful when purchasing open box motherboards as you probably won't get the back plate or any other accessories..

Fine if it works but I'd only put a flaky motherboard afer a flaky PSU as the most annoying parts to troubleshoot.

If you can get a new one on sale somewhere I'd go with that.

I got my M4A79XTD EVO open box too. Probably your best option for the money. My board does have some pretty severe vdroop problems but it could just be my board. Doesn't keep me from hitting 3.8Ghz on my 955.

If you wanted USB3/SATA3 the AsRock 870 Extreme 3 might also be an option, though I've never worked with an AsRock board. I kinda want to get a 870 Extreme 3 myself just to try it out

This. I'd trust most of the sellers here before Newegg's open box's. Considering I'm 0-2 on Newegg, and 1-0 on here with open box items...
