Should I go with a E5200 OC or Q6600 or Q9450?

Thread Starter
My pc is running slow lately-and I just did a clean install last 4 months I am currently waiting for the next 4 gb ram to increase the amount to 8 gb. I have also bought the CM hyper 212 Plus cooler. Currently the E5200 is OC'ed at 3ghz stock cooler. Do you see any real W7 performance increasee from a E5200 OC vs a Q6600 or a Q9450?

Any garbage malware installed?
Shouldn't get significant slowdowns simply in Windows with 4 GB and a dual core..

I wondered about that too but did not find anything in spybot, everything seems fine. Defarg seems fine. What I do now is have a huge 400 page word file with a 30 spreadsheet excel document with vlc music and media player running in the bacground not to mention those IM apps, gadgets and dual screen.

If you can find a good q9450 or a q9550, I would go that route. Q6600 tend to top out around 3.6-3.8 while the q9xxx will top out 3.8-4.2.
plus the q9xxx is faster clock for clock

Hard drive performance maybe? A stick of RAM failing? I'd try one of those HDD benchmarks or take out 1 stick of ram at a time and see how everything runs.

There's no reason a dual core @ 3Ghz and 4GB RAM can't handle Windows unless something is wrong.

Your P43 may not have the chops to OC a Q9xxx. It should be fine for a Q6600 I would think.

I'll try some online A/V scanner first and maybe ASC to see whats wrong.

I have no idea. Looks like all 4 gb ram is working fine.

After running housecall- one trojan. Removed that and pc is a lot faster. Also using FF 4 beta now. Even faster.

I'll be watching for Q9450 deals soon.
Q9450's - £127
Q9550 - £225
Q9650 - £190
Q9550s - £200

I am not so sure if the price difference of Q9450 compared to the others are worth it. Looking at 12mb cache here. On stock speeds should be a breeze right?

I think I could sell my E5200 for £50
