Yes, This one has been beat to death but... CPU Temp 1055t

K, well I'm redoing my system since I finally have a new mobo that works. I took the liberty of installing a couple 78cfm thermaltake fans push/pull style on my h50 tonight. I noticed that my temps didn't really change. I'm still hittin around 53C pretty quickly, so I stop. Yes, I have my vcore at 1.4 but I'm also keeping it there for when I bring it up higher. I'd like to hit 4Ghz comfortably.

So that being said, I have Core temp, PC probe, and Speedfan all monitoring my temps. Never seen my mobo temp go over 30C, in fact I've never seen it rise, even under load. CPU temp on the other hand... Speedfan and PC Probe agree dead on. Now if I use the 10C rule about this temp sensor, then I don't want to exceed 52C.

I have an IR thermometer and I'm measuring the temps at the radiator, block, and hoses. The highest I've seen is about 36C at any of these points. I know these aren't at the die, but seems like I should be no more than 10C higher than the radiator temp.....

First of all, I'm concerned at why I am hitting over 50C within a minute or so, which is almost identical to before I had the push pull fans. And honestly, where should I stop at temperature-wise. Have I just hit the brick wall of limit to this stupid watercooler, or should I reapply my TIM again.

I'd make sure you have it seated right. Those temps seem a bit high (for the h50), but the chip can stand those temperatures.

K, I'll try again. I figured the same, I know I've had it lower on my other motherboard at 1.45V and 4Ghz. Just thought it could have been the motherboard itself.

My validation for the moment:

I think reapplying the thermal paste was a good idea. It would cause your problem. Which one are you using?

Heh, I pretty much just 'pwned' myself. I thought I triple checked when installed.

Anyways, I had fans at pull/pull, so they were fighting each other.

I pulled off my block and checked the TIM. It was almost fully covering the die, cept for the very outside edges. I put the tiniest dot extra on and just stuck it back on.

I'm still getting fairly hot though, I peaked at about 54C after roughly 4 minutes, so I stopped the torture test on p95. CoreTemp indicated roughly 47, but I took the offset off.

I didn't crank down hard on the block like the heatsinks do. I've heard bad things about this motherboard and cranking down on it. Should I just crank anyways? I'm at roughly a turn or so past snug, tightening it in star pattern.

By the way I'm using AS5 for now. Easy to come by, easier than ordering the X23 stuff.

K, well I cranked down on the mount for ****s n giggles.

I've been running the torture test now for.... never mind, crashed. 5 minutes or so, I had one worker error, then when I stopped it, I crashed. I held solid at 51C on PC Probe, 40-41C on CoreTemp (no offset) , wouldn't budge higher. Sound about right?

I just dropped my vCore a tad to 1.375 and upped my memory voltage to 1.62V to help with stability. I also dropped my HT down a multiplier, I was at 2360 something, think thats bad. I'm at 2046Mhz now. Gonna run again. Anyways, so temps sound better? Reasonable at least?

My CPU is idling 1 degree higher than my motherboard, currently 33C and 32C respectively. I'm noticing my 12V rail is dropping from 12.07V to 11.91V under load.... bad? Vcore goes from 1.38 to 1.42, not sure why, I have everything disabled in BIOS.

Push/pull, intake from back. I think I'm getting a small amount of restriction since this old case was only meant for 80mm fans. I haven't modified the grill on backside yet. I plan on opening up my window to 120mm size and mount it there.

Anyways, I just upped myself to 4 Ghz. Can't control the heat yet. Since I know I will never hit full CPU, I'm not too worried about it, but after two minutes torture test I decided to stop at 57C.

You removed the old TIM before putting it back on right?

I bought a H70 for my setup and took it back the next day. Cooled a tiny bit better than my 212+. Maybe user error? Maybe the H50/70 isn't the better solution for Thubans?
