Conspiracy theorists unite: Nokia's replaced another prominent executive with a former Microsoft employee. In this case, it's the head of Nokia's entire US division that's being oustered, as 15-year Microsoft sales and marketing veteran Chris Weber replaces Nokia Inc. president Mark Louison effective immediately. engadget

These kinds of changes (rapid replacement of Nokia execs with old MS employees) say a little about why WP7 is the OS shown on that mockup (not to mention things like Nokia CEO Elop (EDITED for accuracy) holding 130,026 shares of MS stock (7th biggest individual investor in MS) and none from Nokia).

Loving the design.

For what it's worth, the phone looks nice.

They plan to add parts of Symbian to Winphone and Nokia still pays license fees. Either they are not telling us vital information for the sake of Microsoft stock owners or it's just a take over.
The plot thickens, as shown on post #44.

Well that sounds like the reason they've left MeeGo for windows right there. I thought MS was done doing shadow corporations?

Still if Intel thinks MeeGo is going to compete they need to get to work. I can't even get to 1.2 from 1.1 by default. The really amusing thing is that I'd be using Novell's Smeegol if they could fix the damn horizontal scrolling.

Pretty succinct analysis of what Nokia is and has been in the last few years. Not the way I would have worded it, but pretty much on the spot. I know, I know, Nokia is king in EUro-land, but I don't think their market domination on that continent will last with decision like these.

Oh the days of Windows Mobile. I remembered wanting to pull my hair out. Endless ROMs and tweaks, but the thing still sucked. Could have been the fact that it was an HTC Tilt & Fuze. I'm guessing it's getting better now days?

Pretty much my experience these days. I got a LG Incite with Windows Mobile 6.1. I figured a WinOS on desktop, notebook, tablet (got a HK WinOS based tablet), and phone would help everyday integration. I was mistaken, what a mess. Even though all four devices are Windows based, there is absolutely no integration. Windows Mobile device center is a mess that gets no updates and hasn't for years.

Nokia and Microsoft, two giants on the way out. Both are still around because of their massive although declining market presence. Inertia, nothing but inertia.

Note to Nokia and MS: This ain't 2001, you're DUUUUNNN!!!

I can't stand the W7 UI. Terrible, and very limited in customization.
Nokia? They make the worst damn phones, well, they RELEASE the worst damn phones here in America. Europe? Asia? They get the good Nokias. Which is probably why their market share has plummeted here in the US.
