I have no issues with boxed version except I tend to ruin my discs. But I can easily back them up and all that so I don't mind. However, the advantages of Steam push in that direction if I can buy the game there. Always having my games, installing on multiple computers, etc. are great. The only real downside I've seen is not being able to sell old games. But between the fact that many developers are moving to games that can't be resold and that I never really sold games to begin with, I don't mind.

Steam.
The backup utility is pretty sweet.
I can run the launcher for a certain game backup and it's restored to ready-to-go state in about a minute over the network.

Use steam if you got a good internet connection, plus with Steam you really can't lose your games due to a lost disk because it will always be there.

(Unless you contest a payment with Steam and get your account locked out, but you have to be trying to rip them off).

I mainly use Steam.
A few times I bought boxed, F.E.A.R., Call of Duty Black Ops, etc.. Steam opened up and installed to itself. So yeah in some cases even a boxed purchace becomes a Steam install.

I generally like steam especially with games that use the steam cloud save features and etc. I also tend to format a lot sometime so it helps when all my games are in one place instead of having to reinstall like 10 dvd's.

The only time I really buy a boxed version anymore is if I have the other games in the series boxed, or if I really want a Collector's Edition. I bought Dead Space 2 CE and Fallout: NV CE and love it. And it's definitely a plus when a boxed game has Steamworks and Cloud integration. Steam Cloud is one of the greatest features ever introduced, IMO.

I usually stay clear of digital distribution for my games, but PC games and Steam have been the one exception. I haven't had any problems with it over the years and I still make physical backups of every game.

If it weren't for Steam deals and DD versions were within $10 of retail then I'd choose the boxed version every time, but I've picked up most of my Steam games during crazy sales.

All my games are boxed versions.

I am of the 'old school'. (I like to have a physical copy of each game.)

Last game I bought retail was Oblivion. Also purchased BF2 three times and either ended up losing my cd key or the disks.

Needless to say I use steam now.

I usually use steam if I can, even if my connection is a bit lackluster. The whole reason is, I tend to move things around quite a bit, whether it's from just moving to a new location in general or moving furniture among other things.

I've lost a few games this way before and wanted to go back and play them.
