Do I have an FC5 or FC5V2, please help! - Page 3

If Tator Tot is right than I guess that Aerocooler got "Cute" and made up some stickers to slap on. Because clearly the V2 version comes in a different style and size box with "new and improved LCD" clearly stated on the box. NO Stickers!
The problem exists where you truly don't know what you have if you held them both in your hand. But some are claiming they are one in the same, although two versions are sold for different prices from the same vendor!

Different stores sell items at different prices simple as that. TBH Lamptron as i had said before probably just reused the old boxes on the first batch or so of the fc5v2s, and put the sticker on ther.

It seems odd that yours has had so many problems.

The FC2 under went a PCB change to fix some issues it had. I have the original FC-2 which is running just fine.

Though I got a FC-2 revision 2 as well, and ended up giving it to a friend as I had no issues with my FC-2 (short life, squeeling, and some other issues were reported.)

Right now I have 5 Lamptron controllers in my possesion:
FC-2 (original)
Fan Atic (revision 2)
FC-5v2
FC-8
& Hummer

They're all pretty good controllers; though they did have a rocky start.

I sent a n E-Mail to Lamptron asking if they would package them differently with stickers, how to tell the difference, etc....and here is their response.

Hello,dear customer:
Nice to hear from you.
FC5V2 has been released almost 9 monthes.
Every appearance of package shows V2 ,that is new version, but on the fan controller, there is no FC5V2,still show FC5.
You can also distinguish them from LCD,old FC5's LCD is has 88888's figure ,you can see it easily,FC5V2 has not.
Any other problems,pls contact us.

Best wishes

So what's the verdict, does your model have the old LCD?

Well, after looking at the LCD not on, it appeared I can see all the 8888's.
So to put it to bed, I rigged up an old power supply, hooked it up to some fans and I would have to say that I have very good viewing angles.
I guess I have the V2. Not 100% sure.
However, with that said I feel confident I will keep it.

I usually research the hell out of things before purchases and clearly waited and paid extra for the newer version. I am going to move on.
Thank you everyone for your input!
