The new guy...

Well I'm new here, registered over summer for some help with my PS3. I have been looking at all the custom cases and projects. I'm going to be building my first computer for college. Recently I ruined my laptop so I'm stuck with a Celeron M 1.73GHz B130 laptop from dell to get me through until class starts. I'm going to be building a water cooled i5 or i7,HD5870 with 6-8 GB Ram, do some OC and maybe water cool the GPU down the road as an add on project. Hoping to put the build into a Corsair 800D or a TJ07.This website is crazy almost too much information to read! But after reading all the info it has helped me tremendously in deciding what the best parts are to put together for what i need out of my PC. Can't wait to be a contributing member of this awesome forum!

If your getting a 1366 i7, (not a SB)

You want triple channel ram, remember that, so 1gb x 2, 2gb x 2, 4gb x 3.. So 8 doesnt really work

Welcome bro. I would not recommend water cooling your first custom rig. Get her working right then dive into that. Real water cooling is expensive and time consuming to do right. Just my opinion. Good luck either way

Thanks for the advise! But I think if I can rebuild engines for 500+HP it shouldn't give me to much trouble, plus my friends gonna give me a hand and he has like 10+ water cooled PC's under his belt so I'm not too worried. I'm not taking shortcuts anywhere on costs plus in college I won't have to much down time for a PC to mod nor will I have the money to do it with quality part so I'd rather do it now while I still have the chance.

Already had that in mind! Im still doing my research for what Im looking for but still not 100% on what pairs best with certain parts. Always better to ask then realize I could have done better if I just asked!
