OC 955 BE on M4A79 Deluxe - Page 2

Am I the only one to notice that his DRAM is at 1067!? Good lord, If I'm not mistaken, isn't that you setting what speed your ram is supposed to be at? If you have 1066 ram then set it to 533.

I have it automatically set, it runs at a lower speed. I have been running it on the manual 1066mhz (stock speed) for over a year with no issues.

It is running properly. In CPUID it shows 535 mhz. If I didn't manually set it, CPUID would show 400 something mhz. Basically it would be running at 800 instead of now (1066mhz).

The ram is not an issue.

Agreed about the ram im running the same board and my ddr2-800 is running stably at 1066. Its basically overclocking the ram.

Blast what are your temps? I noticed BE processors dont like the FSB messed with so i just played with the multiplier. I can run mine at 3.6 (a 940) with 1.45 volts on the core and the NB and HTT at 2400. however its hard to run it stably because at that voltage my Xigmatek 1283 refuses to keep the max temp under 58 degrees. At that point I just get reboots. SO i had to settle for 3.4 nb at 2200, core at 1.4. idles around 39 and maxes at 53-55 sometimes a bit less depending on ambience temperature.

Depending on your cooling you should be able to run at 3.6 stable with your chip. This is a great mobo.

1066Mhz appears correct if CPU-Z shows as 533.

It is correct.

And my temps run P95 or IntelBurn top out at 49*C running 3.6ghz at 1.425v
I am somewhat suprised that I can only get to 3.6ghz on this voltage. (granted it is perfectly stable)
[Any other program that maxes my cpu, such as Adobe Premiere Pro when exporting a video, hits only 43*C]

I have tried 3.8ghz on 1.4675v or something but it wasn't stable. Temps topped out at 51*C under IntelBurn.

My HT link is set to the default 2000mhz. Could that be handicapping my OC?
NB is at 2400mhz at 1.25v

This OC is really disappointing

Well Phase one is to make sure you have the newest bios. Seems like ASUS released some new ones recently.

http://support.asus.com/download/dow...age=en-us&os=8

Next I would up your voltage and see how temps go. With my board I find out that some times that adding more voltage doesn't make my temps go up and my pc runs better. Your temps are also pretty high for such a low clock speed. You might want to try to reseat your powersupply and see what your temps are like on your northbridge.

The temps do not seem high for my clock speed, as temperature is not proportionate to the speed. Temperature is proportionate to voltage, which is at 1.425v for the 3.6ghz.

I have tried running 3.8ghz at 1.4675v and topped out at 52*C. Of course, it was unstable which is the whole reason I am here.

I read something about increasing my HTT Link speed to get better stability, but I have also heard the HTT Link tends to not effect the Phenom II's.

Edit: I checked for bios updates. There is only one newer version, and that only adds support for new CPU's (I assume the 6 cores)
