Asus HD5870 Eyefinity 6 Drivers Problems

Thread Starter
The product is a Asus HD5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition.
I put it in the PCI_E16x_1 slot (with no other graphics card)
I instaled the latest drivers i found and restart my computer. But it seems that when I play any recent game it gets low FPS and I cant play it at all.
Now when I uninstaled and reinstaled them but not restarting the computer the games are fluid as they should be. What can I do now? It seems that the card or the system disable the drivers when I restart the computer. (I have to instal them everytime I restart the computer)
But if i change it with the HD5870 Matrix this doesn't happen.

I want to use both the cards in crossfirex but if I can't make this card work properly it will allways be unstable in crossfire...

Another question is, in the catalyst panel is it suposed to say 0º, 0% activity and 000Mhz on the 2nd card when i enable crossfire? )

(both AMD and Asus drivers get the same results)

Use older drivers. Here is a link

http://downloads.guru3d.com/Videocar...Win-7_c31.html

Edit, the only was CF ever worked for me was to install ATI drivers with both cards in the computer and fully connected. I could never install 1 card, then drivers, then the second card. Maybe others can?

It appears that even the 5870 matrix does the same... could it be some option in the system that is doing this?

Gabe63 I'm going to try the old drivers and see if they solve my problem...

EDIT: ok i tried the older drivers. At least 10 different drivers and nothing.

Must be something in the BIOS or an option in Win7 that I enabled or disabled and the problem comes from there... what about now? my Rampage III Extreme BIOS only has one option for the PCI. When I builded my system it never had any problems until a month ago...

Sounds like you have driver corruption.

Try this:

Physically install the Asus card.
Uninstall all graphics drivers using the uninstall in Windows.
Run Drivesweeper.
Install 11.1

Already did that. But i keep getting the same results...

Should I try to format and instal a fresh Windows? I'll make an image of my system if something goes wrong and restore it.

Edit: This is off-topic. HD5870 eyefinity 6 uses smartdoctor. HD5870 matrix uses iTracker. So they are not compatible with eachothers overclock utility.
I got bluescreens when having them both instaled and the two graphic cards in cfx.
Does MSI Afterburner solve this problem?

You should do this in safe mode, I think.

Sorry to hear it. Nothing is more frustrating than unknown comp issues.

Can't hurt to clone the drive and then re-install everything (OS also) on another drive. At this point with both cards doing the same you have to suspect the cards are ok.

The "000Mhz" is due to ULPS.

Here is what I did a long time ago:
http://www.overclock.net/ati/667144-...ling-ulps.html

My comp would blue screen anytime I tried to make a change with crossfire. Mostly when I tried to adjust voltage.

Does this happen at stock settings?

Also, try using Afterburner for both cards. Leave the manufacture software off.

Ok. Here's what I'm going to do:

1st. Make image of my system and format / reinstal Windows 7.

2nd. Put both cards and the crossfire brige.

3rd. Instal the drivers with the two cards and instal MSI Afterburner
( i will use MSI Afterburner only to control the fans because the cards in stock settings are still too powerfull to overclock them now)

4th. Instal: crysis warhead; gta IV; and uningine heaven benchmark.

5th. Come back here and tell you the results

Edit: I am also going to try to disable ULPS.
