about to water cool

Thread Starter
so I am currently in a dilemma, did a stock stress test on my i7 950 with a cooler master v8 and i was reaching temps as high as 70 degrees C, not good i know. So i have decided that the solution is to water cool. I currently have a cooler master storm scout case, is it worth upgrading that?
on the other side, with water cooling, what is my best option, am i best buying a kit like:
this one
or am i best off buying each part by part?
or even the cooler master h50/70?

You're probably better off going with one of the Rasa kits like an RX240, preferably 360 if you're planning on doing the graphics card. Although I think a 240 can handle both of them, the temps simply won't be as good. Stay away from the H50/70s. There's air cooling that can perform on the same level or better than those. If you're watercooling, go with one of those kits.

That kit is outdated and has a bad CPU block. Get this revision of that same kit for a little more, you'll get 5C+ better temperatures.

At stock settings with that cooler? Bad mount. If you have an overclock on your chip those temperatures sound normal.

EDIT: Yes, you could expand, all of the components in the kit are standard based. Although I don't see the point in changing the CPU block, the one in the kit I linked is within 1C of the best available block on the market.

Reseat it, and if anything probably less thermal paste, you want a very minimal amount in the center. I think most people say to go with like about the size of a pea but I think that's too much. I think about a grain of rice should do the trick.
