VIA V1708S onboard audio codec

Hey guys, I'm about to be using a Via V1708S codec. I haven't used a VIA codec since 2001 and know nothing about them. What Realtek codec is this comparable to? Is it any good (for onboard, of course:headphone)?

One of the HTPC rigs I put together has this chip. Audio quality is decent, but then again I was running SPDIF-out to a receiver. The driver/control panel isn't as polished as Realtek's solution but it's OK for what it is.
