Need video card input :) - Page 2

You should seriously consider a 580 or a 570. Going further, you will be stuck with the 1 GB memory. No doubt, you wont go wrong with any of the current games but it might not last that long. With a 570 or a 580 , you could SLI it in the future too and be able to run most of the current games at the highest settings.

I dont have metro 2033 but I haven't found a game that I couldn't max at 1080p. I even crank the settings in Nvidia control panel. The lowest fps I seen is 70 in dirt 2 when you leave the trailer. Even at stock 570 settings. I would get a 570/580 but then again I never had a use for sli/xfire. It's not really nessesary at 1080p.

Some games are limited to 30FPS. There's no decreased in performance from 60 to 30 FPS. The only reason you feel lag is because it goes under 30.

That being said, there's really only 2 choices between $400 and $500: HD 6970 or GTX 580.

I am in the same position, and I know how you feel about the low frame rate, I like mine always locked at 60FPS.. specially during online multi-player!

My concern about this is that what about phisX support, does the new 6xxx series cards look and play nice with out lagging if they dont have the nvidia phisx technology? PhisX does make it look more realistic, i will give you that! i wish ati could use this feature!
