Can i?

Thread Starter
I'm currently trieng to OC my CPU further. However, the time i have to wait for stability tests to "complete" kill me.
Could i run a game (old game in my case) on my computer while letting Prime run? Or might this influence the stability test in ways it wil become unclear?

I don't mind if it crashes while gaming or slows me down while gaming.
I just want to know if it's possible and it won't screw the Prime testing.

Yeah, it'd be like folding and gaming at the same time, I do it all the time. Games are really GPU dependent nowadays so the CPU matters, but not all that much.

Ty, all i had to know

Back in the day, there weren't any stressing programs. Nowadays, they're a bunch of them. Stress testing is just a precaution, wouldn't you hate to crash in a middle of a game and corrupt your save or let your team down?

Just let it run a stability test over night. Or, Get IntelBurnTest and run it through 20 passes, you could then call it pretty stable, doesn't take long. Your choice, bro.
Save files are for console Nah seriously, I'm just gonna do some Single player games in which case i won't annoy people by leaving all of a sudden, Nor will i feel bad for not saving any game Just somthing to keep me busy for a while.
Thx!

Well personally, I just find something else to do.

I've been getting through lots of books by lying on my bed and reading while it stresses

You don't have to be using your computer all the time

Already responded to this. 4+1 phase + no heatsinks + low end board + 125W processor + overclocking + over 1.5V = I'm surprised you haven't set your house on fire yet

I don't know about Prime95, but when stress-testing with a linpack based test (such as LinX or IBT) you should have everything closed down (including anti-virus, etc.) while it runs. Here's a good guide:

Don't even try to stability test. Putting that much load on unheatsinked inadequate VRMs will probably destroy them immediately.
