Upgrade from GTS 250....

Thread Starter
Hey guys. Just wanted to get your opinion. I'm thinking of upgrading my GTS 250 to a GTX 460 768. I only game occasionaly and play rpg's like fallout new vagas and mass effect 2. I game on the monitor in my specs and sometimes Ill throw it up on my 32" 720p lcd. Would a 460 768 be a nice upgrade frome the 250. All input apreciated.

GTX460 is solid, make sure you get the one with the 256bit memory lane.

If you could though, getting a GTX560 would be better.

1440x900 > 1280x720 (720p)

The 768MB would do if he doesn't plan on playing the big games.
Though I still stand that the GTX560 is a more worthwhile upgrade

Looks like the 1GB GTX460 is the way to go. Here is the link shown some numbers. In the chart, GTS250 isn't there but GTS450 is about few % better than GTS250 at stock.
OP never posted their budget. As an occasional gamer though 460 1gb would be the way to go. but getting the 460 and realizing how great it works might tempt the the OP to play more games hence feed the need for a better card. Just OC the 460 and later when you have more $$$ buy another 460 and sli them up.

GTX460's are the bomb Make sure you get the 1GB Version as mentioned..

They OC really well too, and they are compact for what they are. The Gainward one I have was shorter than my 5750 lol

I really don't have a budget I just don't want to go overboard and get more than I need. I'm gonna upgrade my rig but I'm waiting for BD to come out before I do anything.
