Why is a higher HT link worse, and why have adjustable PCIe freq if no one uses it?

It seems people keep it around 2000, I went with 310x7=2170 as opposed to 1860.

I wasnt aware that a higher HT link was worse :s I keep mine at 2400mhz because it is better than the stock 2000mhz. a lot of us do use the adjustable pci-e frequency, its just that its extremely difficult to change it AND keep it stable, right now mine is at 210mhz stable. there always seems to be a sweet spot in a HT link, you just have to find it. my MB's sweet spot seems to be 2400mhz but others will be different

Ok, what benches show a difference when the HT link is changed?, for good or bad.

And a while back, everyone said not to change my PCIe bus freq.

My 5670 is my bottleneck, as long as I don't damage anything, I need all the performance I can get.

I really just notice it in general performance, cinebench it affected slightly but I don't really do benchmarks. I find that responsiveness goes down if its a bad overclock. switching between a game and the desktop seems to take longer if the clock is bad
