Have you tried running the same monitor setup from before your upgrade? I thought a second display always caused some background work on the CPU.

As far as I know it doesn't. I did run just the HDTV for awhile while waiting for an adapter and it ran pretty good. When I play games, Fallen Earth or Oblivion etc., my GPU is maxing out at 99% Activity when I look at it in Afterburner and that seems to be when it lags in Fallen Earth.

That can't be normal for my GPU since it has more then enough power to process that with well under the max needed. Me thinks there's a problem somewhere.

EDIT: Could it be a power shortage since I know AMD chips consume less power then the Intel Chips and I only have a Tech NPC (Whoever the heck they are, This was originally a Digital Storm PC) 750 watt PSU.

And there is mega stuttering in sound and everything on the PC when the GPU hits 99% activity.

Also what is this "No Virtual Disk" message I keep getting on boot up?

If you aren't using a fps limiter the gpu should always be at 99%, unless your cpu is bottlenecking it.

So basically your problem dissappeared once you got rid of one of the displays? Your rig should have no problem with handling an extra display, so it sounds like a GPU driver. I'm not sure if it was said or if you have, but have you tried various drivers, new and old?

If your Radeon 5850 has HDMI out, my guess is that your onboard audio is by Realtek and is confilicting with the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio device that installs with the Radeon Catalyst drivers...and running your CPU usage upwards of 100%. I've also seen this behavior on a few systems with Radeon Video cards & Creative sound cards.

Download and run Process Explorer if you want to find out for sure if this is the issue.

If that's the case, you can try and disable the device in the Device Manager under the System Devices. If that fixes your problem without killing your sound, you're good until the next reboot...note this will kill your HDMI Audio output. Otherwise, and for what might be a permanent fix, try installing updated drivers for the HDMI Audio device. The ATI HDMI HD Audio drivers are from Realtek and this has fixed the problem for a lot of folks:

No the problem didn't disappear pez. And Balla, I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to be at 99% to handle a game with fairly dated graphics (FO3), besides that's where problems occur.

Also HateTheSnow will try that and get back to you. I use a G930 headset all the time so sound through either Realtek's onboard mobo sound or the HDMI sound output isn't all that important for me.

Installing those drivers semi helped HateTheSnow but it's still pretty bad as far as low FPS goes.

Try disabling the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio device in the System Manager. It will be listed under the System Devices category.

Disabling the HDMI Audio will either completely fix the problem or it won't make any difference. Either way, the device will re-enable itself on the next reboot, so there won't be any permanent changes to your system and the list of culprits will be narrowed down a bit.
