Dual boot troubles

Thread Starter
OK so I'm trying to install windows 7 and windows XP on my HDD. I installed windows 7 first, and made two partitions (left one unformatted). Got win7 all up and running so I went and installed windows XP on the other partition.

Now my issue is, I can't get back into windows 7 anymore! lol. I thought it would give me an OS boot menu to select on startup but it's not there. So I tried F8, and went to ''return to OS choices menu'' and XP is still the only one listed.

Now I know for the FACT that I did not install XP over the win7 because I used the partition in ''My computer'' to retrieve some programs I had installed in win7 and swapped them over to XP. ANd i also know because the partition I left for XP is much smaller and if I click on the partition I installed win7 on it says that 15gb is used up which would be right for win7 and the stuff I installed on there.

So please help, need to get back into win7!!!!

You have to install XP first. No other way to do it.

So install XP and then win 7 and it will work fine.

OMG are you kidding me...I have to do everything again!

Or, I can leave my XP alone and just reinstall win7 then right?

Yea that should work. As long as you install win 7 after XP it should work fine, and on seperate partitions of corse. With ur sig u can probably have win7 reinstalled in 30 mins.

You don't have to re-install Win7, just run fixmbr in the command prompt under the recovery options on the install disc (win7) and you should get it going. Or just see if you can hit repair, startup repair? Idk it has been ages since I had to run the windows install disc.

Install EasyBCD in XP to reinstate Longhorn. You can get it here.
