Corsair Vengeance Overclocking

Thread Starter
alright i've figured out my max CPU speed @ 4.2 and i've read that when overclocking the ram Timing's makes bigger difference than Mhz so i was trying to get my DDR to 7-8-7-24 i've read that it can be done but every time i try my system won't boot.... if i go any lower than 9-9-9-24 every time it fails even turning up the voltage to 1.65 stock is 1.5. I've been overclocking for a while but never got into ram much any input would be appreciated.

Try 7-9-7-24.
if its not booting it means its not gonna work (without more voltage)

7-8-7 is a HUGE jump from 9-9-9

try 8-9-8 first

baby steps bro

The IC binning may not allow for tRCD of 8 (i.e. PSC). Indeed, try 8-9-8 first then 7-9-7.

ya nothing will boot besides 9-9-9-24 read plenty of reviews that this ram can do 2000mhz @ 1.65 but haven't found much about timings..... maybe i'll just up the FSB and lower the Multiplier to get the ram to around 1900...idk not sure it's worth it considering the extra heat.. 4.2 is rock stable right now just bumping the multiplier.. thoughts?

You might want to see how speed does. x6 IMCs are fairly capable, you could give 2000Mhz a whirl maybe. Must be the IC binning. Hint: 250Mhz bus clock x8 memory multiplier = 2000Mhz

Please keep me updated on your progress and how you ultimately OC'd them!
I'm using a very very similiar setup to you, Vengeance and a 1100T, I too tried to overclock but again, anything under 9-9-9-24 and I can't boot.

8-9-8-24 loads fine 1.65V couldn't do any better i did get it to 1850MHz @ 9-10-9-24 @ 1.65v as well haven't had enough time to see which setting performs better i'll probably stick to the 8-9-8 simply b/c i don't want to change the FSB just adds more heat to the NB and SB and on this board it's hot enough.
