SilverStone Air Penetrator series. Why so low airflow?

Thread Starter
I've seen 120mm fans with 1200 to 1300RPM speeds giving up to 50CFM airflow but the Air Penetrator series are so weak in terms of airflow only 35CFM. Is this value correct?

Yes the 120mm are pretty weak. The 180mm ones are awesome fans though. There is also a 140mm version but I have not heard anything about it, I've just seen it for sale.

1. They may be more honest (or more realistic) with their ratings.
2. The fans are designed for a very specific use, pushing air over a distance.
3. Who is this in your avatar? Her hair is awesome! Nevermind. Tineye FTW.

I've got 4x AP 120mm on the side as intake. Lowered my temps by around 5c

I think silverstone is a very honest company that doesn't inflate their statistics. Coolermaster ,on the other hand, blatantly lies about the specs of their fans. 90CFM at 19 dBA.... Riiiiiiiiiiiight...

^This, Silverstone's ratings are off but they are much closer then most are.

So replacing my NZXT Tempest's stock frontal intake fans with AP121s would increase airflow inside my case and provide better cooling? Btw i don't know the specs of my NZXT fans. They look like generic 120mm 1200RPM blue led fans.

Yes. With the APs it's more about how they move air rather than the force (that's not to say I wouldn't like them to have higher pressure) They really do work as advertised

I don't know how most companies do their ratings, but the AP's in my FT-02 seem to 'blow' much harder than anything else I've come across. There might be better options for exhaust fans, but if you're trying to force air through your case, they do the job.
