Have you tried WOW and dislike it? - Page 7

Wow was really cool when it came out, cutting edge and all. Much time has passed since and 10+ million subscribers have found the shortest path to the highest levels and best gear. This kind of cheapened the experience for me and made me feel like if I didn't cheat or spend waaay to much time playing I would never have a worthwhile character or experience for that matter. Maybe I quit too early. I never was able to get past level 30 and I'm not sure exactly why, part of it is from what I mentioned above.

@op - sounds like you've never played MMO's before but the point is progressive character development. Try Champions Online, It's interesting and free. Maybe you will enjoy an MMO if it's set in a different genre... ???

I got the "account upgrade" when buying sc2 as an "early supporter". 30 day sub to WoW. But I don't play it anymore!

Went on a trip to a jobsite south for work for two weeks. My co worker got me to buy the game as we both brought our laptops for the evenings, honestly i got to level 16 and it was boring. Leveling was what i did mostly, i guess im picky about games and it didnt do it for me. Not to mention its very time consuming that to which i cannot spare.

And if you couldn't comprehend my previous post before that I was replying to Furious Porkchop who mentioned that people hated BC2 because of levels and weapons and didn't honestly give it a chance. That's where I mentioned levels and weapons don't matter because the game is balanced. Where then you replied why do I keep comparing them implying that I did it several times before already but did not. The only thing I compared in that one post was PvP balance aspects of several games.
Quote:
Meh, PvP on most MMO's are dependent on how long the person spent getting gear for their character and aren't based on skill. The only balanced PvP I know of is DCUO. A level 8 can beat a level 30 now that's what I call balanced. The lowbie is not left helpless. That's why I like FPS better, a lot more balanced nobody is going to be better because they have better gear or higher level. The winning portion is dependent on the person's skill in how they can handle weapons, their strategy, and teamwork.
Sounds like you're comparing them to me.

Not that it matters anyways because if what you're saying is true, then WoW isn't like most MMORPGs. If you got to end game PVP, you'd see that everyone has pretty much the same gear, and they depend on their skill to win.

World of Warcraft is pretty fun to play casually took me ages to get to highest level cap i pretty much played all the casual stuff to death unfortunately with the latest expansion they decided to make the game more time consuming since time is money to them it's really only a fun game if you have mates to play it with otherwise it just gets boring soloing its really only for hard core players

Which is why i quit also i just don't have the time to spare for the game any more and i don't like the bad reputation it gets from the media seems anything can be classified as an addiction now days

The thing is the players are not really that hardcore its just the guys
which are willing to spend the most time on it you just use a bunch of
addons and you are set not allot of skill required granted you do need
to know how to use your class but you pretty much know how to by
the time you hit the level cap some guys might rage over me stating this

Before the first expansion it was the most fun for me. Arena ruined battlegrounds, and the scripted world PVP ruined the random PVP. Southshore vs Hilsbrad was epic so many times. I won't lie though I had some pretty epic battles at Halaa too. I was a season 1 3v3 2.2k+ on a rogue but after everyone had resilience it became just a stupid counter game. Not fun. Been going downhill ever since BC. I haven't played since a server first LK and to be honest it had lost it's fun a long time before that.

But I will say this, Ulduar was the sickest most fun and challenging raid of that game. I will never forget that place, the design, the fights, and just everything about it was awesome. I had a tougher time in there then I ever did in Icecrown.

WoW is a game you raid to raid to raid. Endless raiding, just to raid more. It gets boring fast. The PVP isn't that bad but they've messed it up with Arena's and the still prevalent imbalance of sap and stun. WoW has potential, Blizz just don't care to work on it.

I'm an EVE player and love the game. You don't need to spend weeks or months getting to max level just to raid. You can start pvping almost straight away and, if you have the skill, you can excel from the moment you start. It's an MMO, so there's a lot of grind but the game is very cruel. When you lose your ship in PVP you lose everything on it, whereas WoW is easy mode PVP. In EVE we call it carebear PVP.

I'm sorry but are there skate boards in this game? What is this grinding or grind term for wow?

Yea, the game got under my skin like bah, had to get it off my system right away after 20 minutes of it.

I could not imagine playing this game for months. I suppose I do not have the patients, like I felt like I wanted to jump out my chair and run my self.
