Its been mad years since i've been away frm pc's (Some say i was a Computer GURU 2 or sum years back, it stuck to my name so ya ppl still turn to me for suggestions/troubleshooting) all gud for others but seriously i cant think for my self, its like i'm blank whenever i've started some research as to how to upgrade my pc.

Been an AMD fan since 2004, but we got NO AMD dealers or retailers in Pakistan, some ppl r sellin them here but they r charging a wayyyyyyy higher then it should b.

Its like lukin for a diamond in a coal mine, really.
Had a lil cash some months back, so i managed to find an AM2 board + x2 4800+ put a 2gb(single) 800mhz, been workin well for a month or 2.

Please check my pc specs.

Processor x2 4800+ aint dat gud but i've seen ppl having fun wid it anyway.

Goal:

1. being able to play some games not latest ones here's wht i'd love to play (GRID, COD4 & 5, Medal of Honor Airborne, Dirt 1&2, NFS (Whtever ) ya so ima need a mid-range GPU for dat. I was thinkin of ati 4870 (but its 142$ here) but i dunt think it would even try to putout any efforts on my system
CPU might bottleneck.

2. being ultra savvy gotta use the stuff i already hav while getting da last bit of performance out of it.

Please help me figure out as to whts gonna b da best GPU according to my specs & ultimately whts gonna b da bottleneck??

Any help would b appreciated

if its an oem machine, you wont be able to overclock the cpu

best bet is to buy new mobo/cpu/ram
are you near a microcenter?
http://www.microcenter.com/at_the_stores/index.html

x2 250 (3.0ghz) and a free mobo = $58
http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0346724
http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0351634

some ddr3 from newegg (use code DM15A02US for -15% on desktop ram)
$26 for 2g
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104219
or $50 for 2x2g
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104203

it might take some time to figure out the front panel connectors on the case to make it work correctly

Try this memory kit - 2x2GB just $34 after promo and Micron ICs

oops, forgot that board only uses upto 1333
ty xd

Ignore any "up to 1333" claims, it is scam. You should be looking at CPU for memroy support on AMD due to integrated memory controller, and even then there is always an x8 memory mulitplier for getting to 1600Mhz without overclocking bus clock; it is just undocumented. 1600Mhz memory support is an extremely common misconception with AMD.

Yess it WAS an OEM machine but its Mobo died so i got another 1 for cheap its MSi so ya it can OC, i've already tried to OC my CPU, pushed it frm 2.5 to 2.8 but stock cooler wasn't with me so i turned it down to stock. Btw it can easily b OC'd to 3.1GHz gotta sort temp tough.

I'm no where near a Microcenter, found tons of great deals online, turned out da shipping was way off :'(

Bottleneck is going to depend on the game. Some games will be seriously limited by your cpu (Starcraft II) while others will be limited by the GPU (Metro 2033). Two extreme examples in parentheses. You are looking in the right range, though I would expand the list of cards so you can try to find the best price. A 5770 is comparable to a 4870 performance wise (slightly less powerful) but runs cooler and with less power and has DirectX 11 support. If you want less expensive look for a 4830/4850 or a 5570/5670/5750.
