Several questions about monitor setups

My current card is a radeon 5870, so I can do eyefinity if I get multiple monitors.

Do all three monitors have to be exactly the same resolution for it to work? For example, can I have a 1920x1200 in the center, and 2 1920x1080's on the side?

And nVidia cards don't support something like this, do they?

No the res doesnt have to be the same if i recal correctly. And Nvidia has something like surround vision or something like that since the 4xx series.

You really should get exactly matching monitors. I don't THINK Crossfire has a limitation on it, but you really should have them matching. The games won't look right at all if the screens are too different.

Nvidia has Surround. It requires SLI, period. It also requires a Fermi (GTX4xx or higher). And it also REQUIRES the same exact resolution per monitor (which in my opinion is a good thing).

For eyefinity you have to have the same resolution monitors not 3 same monitors.

yeah as long as they have the same native resolution they should work.

For eyefinity, all monitors will be set to the same resolution and refresh rate. You can use any mix of monitors you want, but they will all be set to the best setting that the worst monitor can do.

With nVidia surround, all monitors SHOULD be the same, since they all require the same sync polarity. If the monitors aren't the same, they have a pretty big chance of not working. That is, they most likely won't work if they ain't the same.
