New os on the block?

Thread Starter
Doing a little research for a school project, I happened to come across fairly interesting OS that could do some windows features fairly well, and no it isn't Linux based. in fact it isn't even UNIX based, its called ReactOS.

http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html

Reading up on it, and played around with it in vmare workstation, they have said they were able to get halo, Daiblo II and few other old games to work, with opengl. *I was able to play halo, with the free time i had*

Now thinking about this at first when they said they're working Directx support I was like " legal ban-hammer time", bu then thinking as long as they don't look at the dll files for drivers or the windows NT kernel they should be fine if Microsoft ever did want to sue. since the kernel they made was completely by starch they say.

Just want to get some input on this, could this be the freedom gamers have been looking for from windows? Or is it just another project that is going to fall short? and any other comments are fine as long as it refers to topic.
