I've come into possession of 2 Mercury subwoofers:

An SW2500, which supports 2.1, is black and silver, has an FM tuner built in, and has an EQ display on the front, has an AUX input AND RCA.
and
An SW1980R, which supports 4.1, is silver, has an FM tuner (radio button is broken), no display, and looks a little worse for wear. Only has RCA.

I also got 2 cheap no-brand hi-fi speakers, not brilliant though...

Bear in mind none of these have been tested at all yet.

The thing is, my sigrig's speakers consist of 2 little built-in numbers, on the monitor. I have 2 subs and 2 speakers to my disposal.

I'm considering using the 2500 with the cheap speakers instead of the monitor speakers. I know that it will probably be an improvement, but is it worth doing? How can I get better results from this setup through configuring, making sure it's set right, etc?

Whichever sub doesn't get used will get 2 speakers when it comes up off Freecycle and will go into my workshop when completed.
