looking for a moderate gaming build - Page 2

I'd do an i5 2500k/GTX560 and the parts to support it.

so the phenom won't bottleneck gaming performance if i got a 6950 2gb version

Not after an overclock, no .

But you do need to consider getting a proper Power Supply. Thermaltake hasn't released a GOOD power supply.....well, I don't ever recall a good one being released except the Toughpower 750w, from way back in the day.

I'd suggest an Antec Neo ECO 620w, being a budget build and all. It's not too expensive, and will easily power any single GPU card out there, plus the rest of your system. It'd even handle some SLI / Crossfire configurations too.

I'd also suggest you wait for the Sandy Bridge chips to be re-released. Assuming you can hold off. With an $800 budget, you can build a very nice gaming build with SB. Especially since you already have a case + a decent RAID0 setup.

Unless you're gaming at high resolutions, like a 2560 single monitor or dual/tri monitors there is not much benefit to 2GB cards

You should be fine.

That processor would be amazing and a little more future proof than the other AMD chips.

no, i would be gaming at 1080P on my sharp 32" LED. the reason i mentioned the 2gb version because from what i have read that is the only card which you can flash the bios to a 6970.
