Couple of Questions

Firstly, can anyone point me to the reference ASUS 5870 1GB firmware?

Why you ask? Well, I've got an XFX 5870 XXX card in crossfire with a Diamond 5870 (both reference). I was experiencing some artifacting in some games, most notably BFBC2.

I emailed both XFX and Diamond, and they both said the same thing, which was along the lines of the clock difference of the cards, and the XFX possibly being unstable at 950mhz and 1250mhz. Diamond suggested removing the XFX card all together, which of course isn't viable. XFX on the other hand suggested that I flash the firmware of the XXX card with a "stock clock reference firmware".

So, with that being said, question 2 - Is it safe to flash the firmware of a card WHILE two cards are plugged into a PC and connected via crossfire bridge? Is it safe to flash both? A friend of mine suggested the ASUS firmware or MSI firmware, and flashing both for best possible outcome.

I think Diamond gave you good advice, get rid of the XFX. They sell junk and if you ever have problems with it, they will try their best to wiggle out of the warranty. Good luck.

Have you tried using AB to synchronize clocks on both cards?

MSI Afterburner, it's a GPU overclocking utility. I would use it to make the 2 cards clocks the same.
