I am now an AMD user! - Page 3

@beers - Yeah just the way I said it. When you use core unlocker on Asus mobos you still have to specify the cores you wish to be unlocked (even the default ones). Alas my 4th core was not up to it and with the 3rd core it reduces my overclock by around 200MHz.

Still better off with 3 cores at slightly lower speed.

Gratz!
x6 + 890GXM-G65 and heavy overclocking is not too good an idea though... I've seen around 6 or 7 cases of mosfet blow ups on that board with heavily overclocked x6 processors. Yes, despite mosfet heatsinks.

Youch. Would I be safe at my stats though? 1.33VCore, 3.45 GHz, every other voltage left alone.

I dont see why not. you should just about be at stock volts with such a mild overclock.

1.33V seems fairly safe to me

Congrats on the new rig! Only reason I sold my PhenomBox, and went Intel was to install OS X so I could play around with GarageBand.

I think I'll try to play around with it some more tomorrow. What would you guys say is the max Vcore I should attempt on this board?

1.4V
That's just speculation from me, but I've seen these boards blow up at as low as 1.45V before I think, on x6 processors. I know someone on this site who had 890GXM-G65 blow up on him 3 times in a row.

Ew, definitely should have done more research before buying this board.

Well, given my limited cooling I probably won't be aiming too high anyways. I think I'll try to get this to 3.6 or <1.36V, whichever comes first.

Thanks for your help
