Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz OC'ing

Thread Starter
Got this proc today, my specs:
Athlon II X4 630 @3.52GHz 1.4v
MSI GF615M-P33
OCZ SpecOPS DDR3-1600MHz 1.55v
Corsair CX400

Seem to be hitting a wall at about 3.6GHz. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1652545 these settings are completely stable. Might try knocking the volts down a tad, not sure 1.4's needed.

Anyway yeah, what can I do to push this further? If I up the FSB above 255 on the current settings I hard lock with 0x0000124, though I did have it running nearly stable at 265 with settings I forgot. Do I need to loosen off my memory timings?

BIOS OC options (although the specific settings selected in the picture are outdated):

Where do I go to push this forward?

Cheers!

I'd try something similar to my settings providing your kit's up to it:
14x Multi
1.4v (though lower probably works, I'm on 1.375v and testing stable atm)
Disable C&Q
Don't OC the RAM but if you have to underclock it a lil' bit it seems to do fine, on mine I have it at ratio 1:2.66 or something like that
2T mode
245MHz FSB
Set RAM to the proper voltage instead of Auto

It's all worked for me

I'll try that. My ram's not a problem. It is ddr3 2000, cas 9. Any advice on timings? Auto? Original Spec? Some other combination? Do I need to turn off CnQ? I really like the feature. Anyway, +1.

i hit a wall at 261x14 but i can go higher just need a better ram. so by the looks of it put your cpu voltage to 1.475 cpu northbridge voltage to .50 over stock and put your ht link below 2000 mhz and the nb frequency to a little over 2000mhz so that would mean that your ram is 5.33x multi and your ht link at 7x and nb frequency at x8 and cpu/nb voltage to .50 over stock and cpu voltage to 1.475 but try all so 1.450.

Just so long as it runs at spec it'll be fine along with 2T And afraid so when overclocking it can cause instability apparently (which I believe is true since it stopped me going above 3.4GHz)

That's pretty much the wall I'm at, except I have good quality RAM

Is that voltage safe long term? My mobo tells me anything over 1.4v is "Unsafe" but it's probably wrong

Cheers

ben822: Unless you have an x6, there is no way you could run that RAM at 2000Mhz, sadly. You will have to make do with ~1600Mhz and lowered timings.
if you are overclocking AMD and older generation Intel, yes generally you would disable cool and quiet and those other power saving features. They cause instability in your overclock.

Once you get your CPU stable concentrate on tightening the timings on your RAM.
