Asus Crosshair IV Formula MoBo and Crossfiring

Thread Starter
Hey, I have had my computer for a while and bought it from CyberPoweredPC and then put it together while I was busy with work and blah blah blah. Well, my computer crashed the other day due to a GPU Overheat and I pulled the cards out and they seem incredibly close together for this MoBo and the 16x/16x configuration.

SRY, kinda long winded...

I looked through the user manual that they sent me and it says to put in slots 1 and 3 of the PCIe Bridge but CPPC is telling me to leave them in the first and second slot, picture below (pulled from the PDF User Manual available on the Asus Website).

I need to know for sure if this is right or if the User Manual is correct before I rip someone a new one

well I would use slots 1 and 3 just so the card can breathe better. With them in 1 and 2 they will be too close. I personally would listen to the manufacturer of the board, not the people who are just using it.

Honestly it doesn't matter what slots you put it in.
Just use slots 1 and 3 for the best air flow to the cards.

You can use 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 either way. 1 and 3 will give you slightly better temps yes.

I only have one Video card and I placed it on PCI EXPRESS 2 because it was overheating my NB. To be honest it doesn't really make too much of a difference where you put it but they recommend you place them there. However if your having temp issues then you should direct some air between the fans if you can to help keep them cooler.

for crossfire use 1 and 3 slot. in the box u'll find the crossfire bridge (longer than standard bridge).

If u use 1 and 2 slot both pci-exp will work @8x not 16x
