Crouch is always C
Knife button is always side of mouse
Turn toggle off on Aiming down your sights so you have to Hold your right click to stay in the sights (Makes aiming in and out much easier and quicker with better control)
Switch guns is Scroll for quick switching
Jump always = Spacebar
hay thats awesome.... I'm a lefty :O i know its awesome
i play with left hand on mouse and right hand on keyboard

right thumb on left ctrl set to jump
pointing finger for left shift run or a for straif left and q for spoting
up yours finger for w forward or s backward
ring finger for d straif left and e for get into vehicles
pinky for r relaod and c for crouch
try this if you get bored lol otherwise commend on how awesome it is/ isnt...
us lefties have better map navigation/controll than u righties... thats a challenge

Here if you want to learn how to aim this is what you do. Download CS 1.6 or CSS join a DeathMatch aim server mute in game volume, turn on music and just play.

I'm terrible at fps pc games too. Small learning curve and skill mastery involved... But this is coming from a guy whose played mmo'S his whole gaming career.

I love playing without in game volume, no audio cues, keeps you on your toes and way more aware of whats behind you since you cant hear where anyone is.

I was like this when I went to console lol. I suck at FPS on console but I'm better at FPS on PC. IMO You just need to get use to the controls (Moving mouse to target etc.)
lol People talking about BC2 KDRs. Honestly wish it wasn't even reported in-game.

But I just still feel so uncoordinated. I never remember where certain things are mapped and hit the wrong buttons constantly..

I used to play BFBC1 and BFBC2 heavily for the 360 and PS3. I was sporting over a 3.0 KDR playing 45% assault 55% recon. Granted my SPM was low because I played like a wuss but I did have over 5k kills in the short amount of time I did play BC2 on PS3 before I sold it. And I had over 15k kills in BC1.

It goes against everything that I was ever told about PC gaming.. that mouse and keyboards are more accurate/natural feeling. However I felt way more comfortable on a controller. I'm like twitching, overcompensating, and moving in the wrong directions. I'm missing people pretty close to me, either spraying an entire clip of the M16, or completely missing what I would expect to be headshots, or at least a body shot with the M95 many times in a row on the same target.

It couldn't have been the aim assist consoles have. Unless maybe I just got used to playing on consoles too long. I really need to get the hang of this before BF3 comes out. It just feels like having to walk again or something I dunno..

It didn't take me that long to learn to master playing on a controller that I do know for sure.
I think the best thing to do is start out in a server with few players maybe like 6 or 12 until you get the mouse and keyboard down to where you feel comfortable.

I sold my 360 years ago, and sold my PS3 like 7 months ago. I hated the BC2 console version on PS3 when I saw the different features PC had (even though it is a port, it is much MUCH better on PC). The only console games that I didn't hate were BC1 (I really loved that game), and the NHL/Madden series (sports games on PC are just terrible).

I don't know how to differentiate between noob and non noob servers. I just look for ranked, non HC, and close to full servers with low ping. If I see 8 guys on the other team with the same clan tag I don't even bother spawning.

And ever since then, I've been completely biased against any sort of console controller for an fps game. I haven't even touched halo for that exact reason honestly.

It felt super natural for me when I played WoW for over 3 years. There was no learning curve for me at all; it was pretty much my first serious PC gaming experience that wasn't some Sim game or point and click strategy.

The funny thing is, I had a TON of key bindings.. I had the ~ key through the 6, then Shift + ~ through 6, same with ctrl and alt. I also had a lot of the letter keys bound with other modifier keys. Probably over 30 key bindings and I could hit any one at a moment's notice, while controlling the WASD (even though I used WQES instead as strafing was a big part of WoW). I was really good too, in a top rated guild, top of DPS charts.. top of BG charts.

FPS are just a different animal.

  3. reaction time - the quicker your reaction the better chance of shooing the other player before they shoot you.
  4. suitable hardware - your hardware needs to be able to run the game you play. It needs to keep the lowest FPS above the refresh rate of your monitor.
  5. quality monitor - buy the best monitor you can afford. The higher the refresh rate and the lower the input lag the better. Those with higher refresh rate and lower input lag have the ability for higher accuracy, and higher accuracy = win
  6. quality mouse - similar to a quality monitor, you want a mouse that can provide you with the highest accuracy as possible. So it needs high dpi and high tracking capability. The higher the better and the more accurate it can be
