Why am I so bad at PC FPS? - Page 7

Console does have auto aim for most of its games, maybe that is why?

Try gripping a mouse in a different way (google claw grip) and play with sensitivity settings (and be sure to turn off the mouse acceleration). And, of course, it takes time. Mouse is FAR superior in terms of accuracy and pretty much any veteran gamepad player will be totally crushed by a mediocre mouse/keyboard player. Also, play with key mappings, don't just settle for one, try remapping certain keys.

Not reading all these post, but will offer some words ne way...

Many people who play online at BFBC2, and most FPS for that matter, especially on PC, have a couple years at playing these style of games... its an experience factor... myself, having of started with Wolfenstien 3D, and other voxel games from the DOS days, with gosh... hundreds if not thousands of hours working with 3D environments/FPS style will simply have developed more personal technique for dealing with these style of games.

For some practice, man, I suggest you score a copy of Mirrors Edge, theres a lot there in the way of training someone to get up to speed with hand eye coordination in the FPS environment. Also its worth noting a small percentage of the population have difficulties with FPS games, physically becoming ill from spacial disorientation, so be aware of that and take breaks often. Game will still be there when you get back.

Burst fire is key for bc2.

Try playing CSS to get you better maybe.

3 days.

You're not gonna learn anything in that time.

I've got 4 things to say really

1: I don't really think the G13 is a good thing for FPS. I'd much rather use a regular keyboard. This is just my opinion though. It's based on the fact that every key is the same size on the G13, so all keys feel similar in your fingers. With a regular keyboard the shift, control and etc keys are different sizes so you have less trouble recognizing them. This is not a serious issue. I'd have no issues with a G13. It just might be difficult for you since you said that you hit the wrong keys. As I said, it's just MY opinion

2: Practice. Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice.... Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice PracticePractice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice PracticePractice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice..... Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice PracticePractice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice PracticePractice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice Practice...

3: BC2 is a difficult game compared to some others. Try games like COD4 and TF2 for some easy practice. I absolutely wreck the public servers in COD4 but I am below average in BC2..
COD4 is easy. TF2 is easy if you choose slow and endurable classes like heavy or soldier or pyro. That'd make for great aim practice. The control scheme in these is simpler than BC2 too, so it's nice to start from there.

4: BC2 is not a game where you should be very offensive. Stay back a bit. Relax. Don't go rushing out in the open. That'll only get you killed.

Cheers.

This! Don't always attack, hide back for a moment if no enemy saw you while advancing. This has helped my team tremendously when I or they go hide in the lighthouse in Valparaiso. Sometimes it's a better idea to stay quiet so your squad can spawn on you and assault from behind. And when you do get inside the M-COM station sometimes it's better to keep quiet and not plant yet and wait for your squad to spawn on you. There have been so many times noobs in my squad blow my stealth tactics when I'm deep in enemy territory assaulting from behind. Pisses me off sometimes because I'm pretty much our last chance to get in there and some noobie spawns on me and starts lighting rounds off like there's no tomorrow.

If you happen to see an enemy and he doesn't see you yet, don't get hungry and shoot for that one kill. Let him pass until the area is clear then move onto the MCOM stations. So many people don't use their heads, if you shoot them it will alert the rest of the team with your presence. Just think Metal Gear Solid style. I can't count how many times I was sitting inside a bush somewhere and 8 enemy soldiers just ran past me without even looking behind them.

Mines aren't only defensive weapons, they can be used offensively also. If you can get into the MCOM station stealthing or manage to get in there drop mines and surround the box with land mines. Usually someone (an enemy soldier) will be dumb enough to toss a grenade into the MCOM station. Of course this will blow you up and damage the MCOM and the enemy player will get negative points for it but at least you will get points for it and the MCOM remains partially damaged. This would also leave the MCOM station armed and since all the walls of the building are broken it leaves line of sight to the MCOM so your teammates who are near it can defend and kill the person defusing. Your teammates can also set off the land mines killing any enemy soldiers inside who is trying to disarm. The land mines never disappear so even after you die your teammates can set it off. However C4's disappear after X amount of time if you die but they can also be easily refilled with ammo boxes.

This is just one idea to use in BC2, there's a lot of different ways you can play. And the more ways you find out that is effective the better because the defending team will not expect it what you're going to do.

While it is true that it's harder to be a one man army in BC2 than COD, I'd actually recommend the opposite. Not to boost KDR ('cause it won't), but to not be a camper. Pushing for territory is vital in BC2 and a lot of people don't do it (see the sniper team song for more info on this), so be a man, go offensive. Of course that's easy for me to say, I'm an experienced FPS player by now and have a significantly better chance of surviving while doing that, but still...
