Will Wifi interfer with wireless devices?

Hi all.

Wasnt' too sure what section to post this in, decided here based on the current viewers

Title says it all. Will wifi interfer with wireless devices such as wireless keyboards, mices, etc.

I ask because i have a wireless router above my PC tower, which is also directly in front of a wireless Logitech MX Air mouse. Occasionally the mouse stops responding for a second or two then works fine again - this can happen at random a few times a day.

It just got me wonderin' thats all.

Set your wifi to 5ghz. You're not crazy, the air mouse uses 2.4, which is prolly the default on your router.

Whats the difference between 2.4 and 5GHz?

Does this count as overclocking?

The only problem I've had with wireless interference was a cheap wireless gamecube controller I had used for a PC game pad. As soon as it was turned on, internet connection was lost. Other then that, I've had no issues with other wireless devices. Wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, wireless phone, all that stuff, no problem.

Lol no. It doesn't I'm afraid. By changing your router to a 5ghz broadcast option you would change the wavelength of the signal being sent out from your wireless router. There are a few pros and cons to this.

The 5GHZ band is will not travel as far as the 2.4ghz band will. But most devices that use wireless operate on the 2.4ghz band. Like telephones, wireless key/mice and routers.

However if your wireless adapter for your laptops/pcs aren't able to detect the 5ghz signal, this won't work for you.

Also, a lot of routers don't support 5ghz yet, as it is more of an enthusiast option. Of those that do, most are selectable dual band, meaning if you choose 5ghz, none of you first gen wireless N or wireless A/B/G adapters will be able to use it.

Your not. It's an apt enough analogy.
