Oh Blizzard...

So I had a bday yesterday and got a gift that was broken. went to return it and the gift giver said I could just take the money if I wanted something else, so I ended up getting the Collector's edition of SC2 for $60 on clearance.
I get home and get on battlenet, log in and activate the code I got. I knew I would have to do the DL version as my burner went goofy on me and I am getting a new one as of Wed.
I HATE the Blizz downloader! I'm getting a MASSIVE 300kbps down because they have P2P configured to FORCE me to also upload at my max rate!
I have 18Mbit down! I should have gotten the game in an HOUR. Instead it's taken roughly 6 hours.
I know I shouldn't expect too much, and the non-DVD option is my own fault, but COME ON. Steam would have gotten my game to me in 2 hours minimum, like almost every other D2D service.
I noticed the same thing with WoW, terrible transfer speeds from the most successful PC gaming company on the planet. A company that has enough servers for 12 million people to play on can't give me more than 100kbps from their own servers.
I would have gotten better transfer rate from a torrent if I was the kind of person to do that sort of thing. And I thought about it, but all the torrents are riddled with cracks and other stuff I don't want on my PC, as well as being from unknown regions which would make them pointless anyway.
I just had to get that off my chest.
Otherwise, the CE is pretty sweet with all the cool xtras.
Not $100+ sweet, but good for what I paid.

yea they are like that. They make you upload. Try turning off p2p that will allow their server to give you more bandwidth from them.

I had to turn it off, my internet completely shuts down when i upload too fast.

18 megs down... I don't think that doesn't really matter if people aren't seeding fast then right?

Tried it without P2P and I got the 100kbps I was talking about.
My connection craps out when I start uploading around 80kbps, and I was giving them 150+. It would be OK if it didn't effectively shut down my ability to do much else online. Even forum pages take 5 seconds to load right now.
edit to reply; My DL rate suffers badly if I am also uploading. I've gotten stuff from legal P2P @ 2.0MBps when my upload isn't maxed. I don't think it's because nobody is seeding, but that's not even the point. It's BLIZZARD. They should know better than to foist their store DL's on the backs of their customers ISPs.

I would download netlimiter and limit your upload speed. that should do it.

I was going to do that, but I was already 3-4GB in and didn't want to start over as Netlimiter requires a restart.
Next time I will be prepared.

the blizzard downloader will resume from where you are.

I know the WoW one does, but the SC2 downloader only gives you an option to cancel, not to pause.
and, aside from patching, it's finally done anyway.
Edit; and yet the patcher gives me 1.0MB or higher...
Oh well.

The SC2 downloader for the client also resumes.
